How points work
Points are the currency of your program. Customers earn them on every visit and spend them on rewards you choose.
Earning
- Per visit — every check-in awards a fixed number of points (you set it in Settings → Points). Simple and predictable.
- Per dollar spent — if you connect your register, points can scale with how much they buy. See Connect your register (POS).
- Bonuses — automations can award bonus points: birthday, referral, win-back, or a one-time signup bonus. See Automations.
Spending
Customers redeem points for rewards you create — a free drink, 10% off, a free topping. Each reward has a points cost and optional redemption rules (see Create a reward).
Points balances
Every point change is recorded on the member's timeline — earn, redeem, bonus, refund — with a reason and a timestamp. Nothing moves silently. You can always explain any balance to a customer from their member page.
Expiry (optional)
You can set points to expire after a number of months of inactivity — a gentle nudge to come back. Off by default; turn it on in Settings → Points if you want it.
Good rules of thumb
- Keep earn rates round — 1 point per visit or 1 point per dollar. Customers understand it instantly.
- Price rewards at roughly 10–15 visits — reachable, but worth coming back for.
- Always have a cheap reward (a small freebie at low points) so new customers get an early win in their first 2–3 visits.
