How referrals work
Your customers are your best marketers. The referral program turns that into a system: every member gets a personal code, and when a friend joins and visits, both get a bonus.
How it works
- Share — each member has a personal referral code and link in their app. They share it however they like: text, email, social — the app gives them one-tap share buttons. See Share your referral code.
- Friend joins — the friend opens the link, signs up, and the referral is tracked automatically.
- First visit triggers the bonus — the reward lands when the friend checks in for the first time (not just signs up). This keeps quality high: you pay for real visits, not empty accounts.
- Both get rewarded — the referrer earns bonus points; the new member can get a welcome bonus (you set both amounts).
The guardrails (built in)
- One reward per referred friend — no double-dipping.
- Self-referrals and existing members are blocked automatically.
- Monthly cap per referrer (default 10) — no farming the system.
- Staff can log a referral manually at the desk if a customer shares verbally.
Why first-visit matters
Paying on signup attracts freebie-hunters. Paying on first visit means every referral bonus you give is attached to a real human who walked in your door — the exact customer you wanted.
What it costs you
Only the bonus you set — and only when a genuine new customer walks in. Typical setup: 100 points to the referrer, 50 welcome points to the friend. Tune it in Merchant Portal → Referrals → Settings.
Seeing results
The Referrals page shows your top referrers, total referred members, and how many referred visits converted — plus campaign metrics for sent-vs-redeemed tracking.
