Family accounts
One household, one primary account — with family members under it. This is for the situations every shop knows: the parent's account, the kid who comes in after school, the spouse who pays but doesn't have the app.
How it works
- The primary member (the parent, usually) owns the account and its points.
- Under it, they add family members: spouse, son, daughter, anyone — with a name, relationship, and optionally a phone, email and birthday.
- Family members don't have their own points. Points accrue on the primary account only. A family member is a person, not a separate wallet.
What family members get
- Their own birthday notice — the family member's birthday triggers their own reward (which lands on the primary account, tagged with their name). One per family member per year, automatically.
- Redeeming at the counter — when a family member visits, staff check them in under the family account. The primary's points, rewards and membership benefits all apply.
Becoming their own member
Two paths, both preserving the family link:
- They sign up themselves — normal member account; the system recognizes the family connection.
- Convert the family record — from the primary member's profile, convert a family member into a full member account. They get their own points from that day forward, the family link is preserved (no duplicate birthday notices, history intact), and they stop counting under the primary.
Why shops love this
- Kids' birthdays still get celebrated — with a notification to the parent's phone.
- The whole household counts as loyal customers, not just the app-user.
- The after-school regular who "doesn't have the app" is still tracked, rewarded and remembered.
Setting it up
On any member's page in the Merchant Portal: Family → Add family member. Name, relationship, optional phone/email/birthday. Takes ten seconds. See Manage members.
