7-day points notice
Customers forget they have points — and points they forget about are visits you don't get. The 7-day notice gives members a gentle heads-up before their points sit idle.
What it does
When a member has an unredeemed rewards balance, Shop Loyalty sends them a short, friendly push: "You've got points to spend at Sweet Aloha — your next [reward] is close." — timed so they see it with days to act, not after the moment has passed.
Setup
Merchant Portal → Automations → 7-day notice.
- Turn it on.
- Pick the trigger — the default sends when a member is 7 days away from a reward milestone (e.g. they'll have enough points for their next reward within a week at their current visit pace). You can also set it to fire a set number of days after their last visit.
- Write the message — name the reward they're close to; specifics convert better than "you have points."
Why it works
- It's helpful, not salesy — you're reminding them of their money on the table.
- It lands when intent is easy: "oh right, I'm due a free one" → visit planned.
- It pushes customers past the hump of "I have some points but not enough" — the most common place loyalty programs die.
Frequency caps
Not more than one notice per member per reward cycle — nobody gets nagged. If they visit, the cycle resets.
